I received a copy, from the Caswell Memorial building where the Bible is on display, of three pages from the Family Bible owned by Dallam Caswell and his wife Catherine (Bond). --sb-h The first page is "the end of the old testament" and simply has written in the bottom right hand corner this entry: "Lewis (unreadable) Caswell fourth son of Dallam and Catharine Caswell was Born at Kinston on thursday 22 day of august 1828". The next page has the following entries: Under the heading "BIRTHS" Susan Jane fourth daughter of Dallam and Catharine Caswell was born at Kinston Wednesday the 5th day of June 1818. George Skidmore second son of Dallam and Catharine Caswell was born at Kinston on Monday the 26th day of October 1820 Mary Ann fifth daughter of Dallam and Catharine Caswell was born on Monday the 12th day of November 1821 at Kinston. C---l....sixth. (the rest is torn away. could be 2 or 3 more entries)
Under the heading DEATHS: Wm Henry Rouse departed this life saturday night of March __ 1841 Sarah E Rouse first born daughter of J. Rouse and Susan his wife departed this life the 11th of Sept 1842 Ma__b__ Rouse third son of Joshua & Susan Rouse was born august.. (this entry is crossed out and I can not read the full name) Susan M second daughter of J Rouse and Susan his wife departed this life on monday evening Aug the 21 1845 Susan M Rouse wife of Joshua Rouse departed this life on wendsday Evening the 22nd of October in the year of our Lord 1845 The third page is headed "MARRIAGES" Ann Eliza Caswell was married to Rubin Wallace April the 10 1833. Susan M Caswell was married to Joshua Rouse March the 1 Day of 1838. Sarah E Rouse first daughter of J Rouse & Susan his wife was born December the 12th day 1838. this was the last entry on the left hand side of the page. Right hand side of the page: Wm Henry son of Joshua Rouse and Susan his wife was born the 1st day of January 1841 stillborn Susan (Madeline?) second daughter of J Rouse.... the rest of this page is torn away..
