I John GRIMSLEY being sick and weak of body but of sound a perfect memory thanks be to God for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this life do make and appoint this my last Will and Testament as followeth - First: I give my soul to God that gave it to me and my body to the Earth to be buried Item: I give and bequeath my wearing cloths to my son Thomas Item: I give and bequeath my land to my sons John and Sherwood and their heirs forever. John GRIMSLEY WIT Ralph Saise At a Court Continued and held for King George County on Saturday the fifth day of March AD 1725. The last Will and Testament of John Grimsly, dec, was presented into Court by Welthy Grimsly his widoow and Exeutrix who made Oath thereto and the same being proved by the Oath of Ralph Saise the only witness thereto subscribed, is admitted to Record with the consent and approbation of Thomas Grimsly, oldest son of the said decedent T. Turner Clrk The inventory signed by Wenlian GRIMSLEY dated 1 April 1726 Thomas, the eldest son gave consent that his father's will be admitted. On 3 October 1735 Henry Head was appointed guardian to John GRIMSLEY with William Suttle his security. On 7 May 1736 on the motion of Sherwood GRIMSLEY, Henry Head was appointed his guardian in order to qualify him to bring a suit in ejectment for certain lands in King George County. In 1721 John GRIMSLEY was security for Lewis Jones Francis James had a will in 1717 - son Sherwood, daughter Jane and wife Margaret WILL OF LEWIS JONES - didn't see - find - 1721 Book said he had widow Elizabeth - and left estate to John GRIMSLEY and Samuel Wharton - Did not see the Will but did see the Inventory in the Will book - said he died Instate in 1726 but it also gave the date of 1 Dec 1721 - administration was granted to widow Elizabeth Jones with Samuel Wharton and John GRIMSLEY her securities. If Jones had a will his widow would have been the executress not the administrator..
