Moses Hart
was suggested by well known professional
researcher, Jonathan B. Butcher,
dec, to be the father of many or
most of the Harts in old Dobbs County.
Moses came from Nansemond
Co., Virginia, first to Pitt and then to
Dobbs/Greene County. He
died by 1786, therefore it is reasonable to conclude
the remaining
records are of a younger Moses Hart, possibly a son.
These deeds are from Pitt Co., NC, with the exception of those
indicated
from Dobbs and Greene:

It would seem that since Moses Hart was reported as deceased
in the last
entry, all references from this time on refer to the
younger Moses Hart, as
was implied in the inclusion of the name,
Moses Hart, SR in the 1781 list of
men too old to serve in the
militia.

Cupit's report also interpreted
Cherry as CHASEY, which I believe
could be correct. It was signed by both,
with their marks X).
